I have left ONE star feedback only because it is not possible to leave a ZERO star feedback. Beware of the company trading as “The MOT Centre Watford” at Unit 6, Vale Industrial Estate, Tolpits Lane, Watford, WD18 9QP. It has recently moved from Wembley and was located at: 3 Tilling Way East Lane Business Park, East Lane, Wembley, HA9 7NQ where it was trading as The MOT Centre Wembley Ltd., Placing your trust in the owner, (Mr Douglas Andrew Stocker) is likely to cost you dearly and should be avoided. His hook to lure in new business is a discounted MOT. He offers to repair your car at a price advantage to you. He claims, “It is not his objective to be a tax collector for HM Customs and Excise” and offers to discount his work by the value of the VAT if you are prepared to pay him in cash. His repair was substandard and in my case required doing again. He over charged me for what he claimed were multiple necessary repairs. Then after collecting my car from him, his main repair failed in less than 20 miles, due solely to his shoddy repair work. I had to have my car towed to an RAC approved garage, where it was confirmed that the cause of the failure was due to the damage caused by Mr Doug Stocker not properly repairing it in the first place. I took the parts and the RAC garage report to him to show him the dreadful repair job his company had done. He accepted there was a real problem, but needed to investigate and promised to call me back the same afternoon. Needless to say he never did. I phoned him three times each day over the following week, only to be told by his staff he was not there. The last time I called, I heard him laughing in the background and shouting to the staff member who answered the phone, “No he’s out and we don’t know when he will be back”..!! I left my mobile phone number and my home phone numbers for him to contact me. The result was he blocked both my phone numbers from the “The MOT Centre’s” phone system, so I could no longer call him using those telephone numbers. I had to use a spare phone to contact the MOT Centre again and left a message advising him that if he did not contact me I would take action to recover the subsequent repair costs incurred to rectify his amateur attempt at a simple repair. Doug Stocker charged me £460.00 to complete what was basically a water pump replacement job. During this repair Mr Stocker damaged a pulley which caused the repair to fail and it failed quiet spectacularly causing damage to adjacent parts. The cost to rectify his amateur repair was £542.25. The total cost of trusting a simple water pump repair to Doug Stocker was £1,002.25. You have been warned avoid this con man and his company.
